Car manufacturing mass shutdowns in Japan
Japan’s car manufacturing giant companies –several of the biggest and most efficient in the world- are shutting down operations due to the impact of the devastating earthquake and Tsunami.
All Japanese domestic production facilities declared indefinite closing this Monday because of the impact of Friday’s earthquake. 
Toyota Motor Corp. has stopped production at all 12 of its Japanese assembly plants. Even at the end of WWII, at least one of Toyota production line remained open.
The shutdowns will affect five Toyota assembly plants as well as those operated by subsidiaries like Lexus, Dahiatsu and other not related to car making.
Hundred of business partners of the automaker’s as parts-producers, financial services, human resources related business will also shutter production.
Toyota stated that the shutdowns are also intended to give time to for the company to make sure that employees and their families are safe.
Nissan said that production at six of its domestic facilities will suspend too.
Honda Motors released a press note saying that all but one of its domestic plants will remain closed on Monday, but it has not decided if they will be back up Tuesday.
Honda’s motorcycle plant in western Japan will be the sole plant to remain in operation.
